Come embark with us on a tale only YOU can tell...

Melanie loves a good tale. In fact, one of the books she wants to read is called "In The Midst of A Dragon." It's a fantasy tale set in a world far far away and as the title reveals, involves a dragon. But who are the characters in this tale and what do they have to do with this dragon?

That is a question only you can answer.

In celebration of the first year anniversary of By Moon Alone, I'm excited and pleased to invite everyone to participate in the first BMA fantasy fiction contest.

The WINNER:
Paolo Chikiamco
(pen name: Paolo Gabriel)
Entry title: "...And Three Days..."

Rights to all non-winning entries are automatically returned to their respective authors at the end of this contest period.

The rules are very simple:

1.
In less than 2000 words, write a short story depicting a character's encounter with a dragon. The character must be your own original creation as is everything else. Give your character a name as well as a personality all his own. And do the same with the dragon and anyone else involved in the story. The main character can be a child, an adult, an old person, or even a mystical being. Gender doesnt even matter. This is your story and you are free to do whatever you think works best.

2. You are free to choose the theme of the story. It can be a comedy, romance, tragedy. Tell us a tale only you can tell.

3. The deadline for submissions will be on January 13, 2009. All submissions must be sent via email as an rtf attachment. Entries can be sent to this address.

The prize:

The winner will have his/her story illustrated as a special supplement to By Moon Alone and will be credited as writer of that story. This is not a popularity contest so there will be no voting. Only one winner will be chosen based on the craftsmanship of the writing.

At the winner's request, high resolution files of the completed illustrated winning entry will be provided free of charge and the winner will be free to reproduce such pages for commercial or non-commercial purposes.
